Exotac Firerod Refill Kit

Our fire starting tools use a patented alloy of rare earth metals called ferrocerium. Some of these metals include iron, cerium and magnesium. When a ferrocerium rod is scraped quickly, the friction generated ignites the shavings and produces molten globulars of burning metal. It is these long-burning, molten globulars of metal that make a ferrocerium fire starter so effective at setting other materials on fire.

HOW TO REPLACE:

To replace an old rod, simply unscrew the rod and screw in the new rod. Make sure the rod fits snugly into the rod holder.

STANDARD LENGTH

This fireROD™ refill kit includes a 2.4" long replacement rod with thread and an extra O-ring.

EXTRA LONG LENGTH

This fireROD™ refill kit includes a 3.1" long threaded replacement rod and an additional O-ring. This length is useful for larger knife sheaths.

TIPS:

An optional drop of blue or purple loctite helps hold the rod in place if it becomes loose.
